Rail Safety Leadership Program

Learning design portfolio
Senior learning and instructional designer with over 20 years in education, from primary to secondary and higher education at leadership and compliance level, and more than 10 years as an instructional designer. The job is to turn complex, technical content into learning people actually use.
01 / Approach
I design bespoke corporate learning: workshops, leadership programs, eLearning, facilitator guides, capability frameworks, and the assessment that sits behind them. My background is in education and vocational training, and my niche is technical and regulated work, mining, rail, resources, construction, logistics, transport, and events, alongside courses for online coaches and an online coaching community.
I am currently the senior safety training and compliance manager, on a consulting basis, at a registered training organisation, where I am also the senior learning design consultant. I run SME consultations myself, manage projects end to end, and design for behaviour change first. I work across the major learning authoring tools and LMS platforms, with deep experience in learning and assessment validation and mapping.
02 / Capability
Authoring in Articulate Rise, Storyline, and similar tools, published to SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5 for self-paced and blended delivery.
Scenario-based, facilitated learning for frontline through to senior leaders.
Complete delivery packs that let any facilitator run the session as designed.
Job aids, coaching prompts, and on-the-job tools that move learning into daily practice.
Structured pathways that build capability over months, not single sessions.
Story-led scripts that carry technical and behavioural messages clearly.
Mapping content to outcomes and validating assessment for quality and compliance.
WHS, ICAM investigation, and high-risk industry context that makes the learning credible.
03 / Selected work
End-to-end design and delivery of a leadership capability program for rail operations leaders. Rail safety obligations, leadership accountability, and critical risk translated into scenario-based learning aligned to BHP's 8-Step Event Management Process.

A six-month relationship program for couples in blended families, designed and built end to end on Skool. Structured into four phases around the H.O.M.E. framework (Honesty, Ownership, Momentum, Ecosystem), with filmed and edited video lessons, written worksheets, an upload portal, and an auto-generated personalised plan at the end.
An illustrative corporate change program preparing people to adopt a new core system and the new ways of working that come with it. Designed on the ADKAR model with the human transition curve threaded through the storytelling, so the work targets behaviour and workplace performance, not system steps alone. The suite runs from awareness through to reinforcement across a full set of documents.
A self-authored interactive module with chaptered navigation, expandable content, progress tracking, an embedded video lesson, and a completion-based worksheet the learner fills in and takes to their plan. Built for the BLND3D course on Skool and packaged as a portable SCORM 1.2 that runs in any conformant LMS, reporting completion and suspend data back. Also authored to the modern xAPI and cmi5 standards, which record learning as actor, verb, object statements in a Learning Record Store and can track activity beyond the LMS, including mobile, simulations, and on-the-job tasks.
Open the live module →A bespoke, non-accredited eLearning module on holding a difficult conversation, defusing conflict, and staying aware of the situation, designed for officers who deal with people face to face. Chaptered navigation, expandable detail, progress tracking, and a scored knowledge check that reports back to the LMS.
The facilitator guide for the workshop version of the program: session overview and outcomes, a timed running sheet, segment-by-segment facilitator notes in a do, say, ask format, a scenario role-play with an observer checklist, and a debrief. Built so any facilitator can run the session as designed.
A ninety-second animation script that introduces the program, written scene by scene with timecodes, on-screen direction, and voiceover. Plain, declarative narration that sets up the five habits and leads into the module.
Watch the animation →A pocket job aid that moves the five-habit method out of the workshop and into daily practice, paired with a coaching card supervisors use to observe and debrief in the field. Designed so the learning is used on the job, not left in the room.
Design of a clustered statutory supervisor program and the assessment behind it: a trainer deck, structured activities, and a knowledge assessment, with every resource and assessment item mapped to units of competency across BSBWHS411 and BSBWHS414.
A full learner workbook and a simulated-incident evidence portfolio for an ICAM lead investigation unit: theory, knowledge questions, and structured activities, paired with a branded evidence pack of policies, procedures, scene photographs, and witness statements that students work through to run the investigation.
A 24-month structured WHS cadet program: curriculum design, a mentoring framework, and coaching of internal supervisors to develop cadets on the job.
Leadership training designed and delivered across three nationally recognised qualifications, fully contextualised to client operations across an Australia-wide agribusiness.
An online portal where people upload their completed worksheets and receive structured written review and feedback, built around a clear submission, review, and response workflow that keeps each person moving through the program.

Live, self-scoring assessment tools I have designed and built. The user answers a short set of questions and, from their responses, the tool auto-generates a tailored PDF report and emails it to them to open and download.
A plain-language self-assessment of how an organisation is managing psychosocial risk. From the answers it auto-generates a tailored PDF report, scored across the six areas of duty, and emails it to the user to open and download.
Open the live tool →A guided site vulnerability self-assessment scored by domain, Red, Amber or Green. It auto-generates a PDF report that maps each result to its obligation and sets out the next steps, delivered by email.
Open the live tool →Sixteen statements scored out of forty-eight. From the answers it auto-generates a tailored PDF report, a result, the pattern behind it, and ways to start the conversation, emailed to open and download.
Open the live tool →A plain-language work health and safety self-assessment built for a client, surfacing where obligations may be exposed and where to focus. Responses are reviewed and a tailored follow-up provided.

Complete brand and design systems I have built, shown in full. Three very different audiences, one consistent, system-led approach to the look, voice, and structure of an organisation's learning and brand assets.
The full visual and verbal system for BLND3D: palette, type scale, logo lockups, the H.O.M.E. flywheel, photography direction, voice and tone, components, and the carousel and ad templates the brand publishes from. Built so every learning asset, social piece, and lead magnet stays consistent.
A dark, declarative design system for a workforce safety brand: a narrow palette, a Bebas and Inter type scale, a corner-bracket frame, and a component kit for capability statements, documents, and the web. Applied across covers, social tiles, lead magnets, and capability collateral.
A complete brand and visual system for a registered training organisation: logo lockups and usage, a structured colour and tint system, a Barlow Condensed and Inter type scale, components, and a voice and tone guide, for use across the training capability ecosystem.
