Soteria 360 · Career direction

Know what your experience is worth.

One-to-one career direction consulting for experienced people changing sector, changing role, or working out what comes next.

Tradespeople and supervisors, FIFO and site workers, security professionals, and people leaving an industry that is winding down.

Advice and preparation. We do not place people in jobs
01
The problem

Your title is not your capability.

Twenty years of doing the work, compressed into a job title that tells a hiring manager almost nothing about what you can actually do.

Most people undersell themselves without realising it. They describe the role they held rather than the capability they built, and they leave out the parts that are obvious to them and valuable to everyone else: the budget they ran, the crew they led, the systems they fixed, the incident they managed at two in the morning.

Most applications are read by software before a person sees them. Applicant tracking systems scan for the wording used in the job ad, so a strong CV written in the language of your old industry gets filtered out before anyone reads it. Translating that is the work.

02
Why us

We have changed careers ourselves.

Two of the three directors at Soteria 360 left one career and built another. That is why this service exists, and it is why the advice is specific rather than general.

Founding Director · former WA Police

Josh Smith

WA Police → Safety advisor → Mining, rail and industrial WHS

Josh left WA Police three years ago, went after a safety advisor role, took a pay cut to get the first one, and had his qualification recognised through RPL.

He is straight about what that taught him. The RPL got him the paper. It did not get him ready for the work. Knowing the difference between the two is most of what he passes on now.

From there: senior HSEQ advisor on a BHP site, then a rail safety leadership program he built and delivered to more than 350 people across roughly nine months. Since then, more than twenty organisations across mining, construction and oil and gas as a trainer, assessor and instructional designer. He now designs safety qualifications end to end for Training Worx Australia (RTO 52508).

Director, Marketing and Operations · former WA Police Senior Constable

Britney Smith

WA Police → Branding, marketing and coaching

Britney did ten years with WA Police, cadet through to Senior Constable, across metropolitan response, patrol and inquiry, a remote Pilbara posting and the restraining order and summons service team.

She left in 2022 and went somewhere nobody would have drawn from the uniform. She built a career in branding, marketing and coaching, and now positions the Soteria 360 brand.

She also works with individuals on the same problem this page is about: how to position yourself for a market you were not sure you belonged in.

That is the useful part of her story. The assumed next step after the job is safety or security. Hers was neither, and the capability carried anyway.

Neither of them is selling you a theory. They are describing a route they have already walked, including the parts that did not go smoothly.

03
Scope

What the work covers.

Clear on both sides before you spend anything. This is advisory work: you go to market yourself, better prepared and better aimed.

What you get

Included in the work

  • Identify roles and industries where your experience has value
  • Map transferable skills, and name the gaps between here and there
  • Write your CV and cover letter for the roles you are targeting
  • Build documents using clear language and structure applicant tracking systems can read
  • Rebuild your LinkedIn profile and review your professional presence
  • Point out where a qualification may help, and where your experience might count toward recognition of prior learning
  • Prepare you for interview, including a live mock interview
  • Give you a written plan for the next 30 days

You apply for roles yourself. What changes is what you are applying for, and how clearly your experience reads when you do.

04
How it works

Assess. Map. Position. Prepare.

01

Assess

A career and capability assessment completed online before your session, so the conversation starts from evidence rather than a blank page.

02

Map

Your results interpreted with your consultant by video. Where your experience has value, where it does not, and what the gap is.

03

Position

CV, cover letter and LinkedIn written for the roles the mapping identified, in the language those job ads actually use.

04

Prepare

Interview coaching and a live mock interview before you start interviewing for real, then a written plan and a follow-up 30 days later.

05
Services and fees

Two programs, or one piece at a time.

06  ·  Enquire

Tell us where you want to get to.

Send an enquiry and we will come back to you with what is involved, what it costs and whether it is the right fit. Sending an enquiry does not commit you to anything.

Before you enquire

These are paid services. There is no free option, and no version of this where we put you forward for a role. If you are looking for someone to find you work, this is not that, and we would rather say so now than take your money.

Start before you need to. The best time to do this work is while you are still employed, not the week after a role ends.

If you are between roles and money is tight, say so in your message. Start with the piece that will move the needle rather than a full program.

Sessions run Tuesday to Friday by appointment, by video, in your time zone. Sessions may be rescheduled with 24 hours notice.

Helpful but not required. Send it in whatever shape it is in.
